Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a patch test before getting a treatment?

Yes. If you have never had a tinting treatment with Simply Beauty before then you need to come in 48 hours before your appointment and have a patch test, even if you have had a patch test or a tinting treatment done previously in another salon. A patch test takes less than 2 minutes. I will apply a small amount of the tint to an inconspicuous area on your skin and that’s it! If you have no problems or issues then you can come in for your appointment as normal.

What is the difference between Gelish and nail polish?

You have probably used and bought nail polish before. Whilst it is fine for a manicure and gives a nice finish, it can take a lot of time to complete a manicure with regular nail polish due to the drying time. It may also last about a week and can chip quite easily. It is easily removed with nail polish remover.

Gelish gives a better finish than nail polish. Also rather than air-drying, gelish is set within about 1 minute using a UV heat lamp. Gelish also lasts considerably longer than nail polish, approximately 2 – 3 weeks with proper care. Gelish can be removed at home but it is recommended to come into the salon to have it soaked off.

Microblading: Does it hurt and how long will it last?

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo procedure which is carried out by using a manual blade. Before we start your journey you will need to pop into the salon for a 10 minute consultation. You will need to fill out some forms and I will take pictures and give you a scratch test to make sure you don’t have any allergies to the pigment.

During your treatment, we get to create your perfect shape by drawing in the pencil line, but don’t be alarmed by the pencil it won’t be that thickness, it’s used as a template and I only work within the lines. Then we’ll create your perfect shape – this is the part where we start, this process takes about 40 min – 1 hour.

Many people ask if the treatment hurts but the answer is unique to you. Everyone has a different pain threshold and whilst it may only feel uncomfortable to some, others may feel a bit sore.

After your microblading treatment, you will be booked in for a top up within the following weeks. A yearly refresh is then required as this procedure is only semi-permanent and will fade over time.

Bikini Wax: What to expect?!

Before your bikini wax:
Allow 3 – 4 weeks of hair grow out (dependant on how fast the hair grows, normally a couple of mm is about right), exfoliate the day before your appointment, shower before your appointment and wear loose clothing.

During your bikini wax:
Try to relax and breathe and don’t be embarrassed. I know how you’re feeling and I’ve seen it before!

After your bikini wax:
No exercise or showers, baths, use of lotions or oils for 24 – 48 hours. Exfoliate the area 2 – 3 times per week.

I tried to call but couldn't get through?

I work by myself and sometimes can’t answer the phone due to being with a client. If you can’t get through then please leave a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

I can't attend my appointment, what should I do?

Whilst I understand not everything can be planned for, I ask my clients to please let me know as soon as possible (preferably 48 hours before) if they are unable to attend an appointment. You can give me a ring, a text or contact me on Facebook if you are unable to attend and I will do my best to reschedule you in for another time.
